Shaquille O’Neal has retired. Leaving a legacy like no other Center in the game. Shaq started his journey in 1992 when he was drafted in the NBA by the Orlando Magic. In 1996, he signed as a free agent with the Lakers and led the to 3 championship titles in 2000, 2001, and 2002. In 2004, Shaq was traded to the Miami Heat where the up and coming super star Dwayne Wade won his first NBA title and Shaq his 5th. Shaq left Miami in 2008 and played for the Sun’s, Cavaliers, and ending his 19 season career with the Celtics. Shaq wanted to bring rings to these franchises, but due to age and injuries he just didn’t have it in him. The Lakers will retire Shaq’s 34 jersey and honor the great legend for his amazing basketball career.
Shaq was a 4× NBA Champion (2000, 2001, 2002, 2006), 3× NBA Finals MVP (2000–2002), NBA Most Valuable Player (2000), NBA Rookie of the Year (1993), 15× NBA All-Star (1993–1998, 2000–2007, 2009), 2× NBA scoring champion (1995, 2000), 8× All-NBA First Team (1998, 2000–2006), 2× All-NBA Second Team (1995, 1999),4× All-NBA Third Team (1994, 1996–1997, 2009), 3× All-Defensive Second Team (2000–2001, 2003), NBA All-Rookie First Team (1993), 3× NBA All-Star Game MVP (2000, 2004, 2009), 1994 FIBA World Championship MVP.
