Shoe Review Style

Our Review
Combining the anatomy, technology, style and physiology is not always easy.  The following describes how we review each shoe.  Basketball shoes have to fit into each of these categories in an acceptable manner to the user.  Our rating system will score each area separately and then combine them into a final overall rating.

Your Review
Part of satisfying customers is providing a great user experience accross the board… and then repeating that experience around the world for the masses to buy in.  Your experience / opinion is very important to us.  We have implemented your rating system to match ours.  This way the rest of the world (and us too) can see how a shoe performs accross a wider demographic.

Review Components
Kicksnet.com reviews shoes based on 4 primary criteria.

  1. Fit
  2. Cushioning
  3. Ankle Support
  4. Style
Fit involves the shoe support and comfort during game play.  Includes areas like lacing system, toe box, heel cup, lateral support, arch support and whether there is any friction that can lead to discomfort.

Cushioning is based on how well the shoe footbed protects the body from jarring, impact and lateral movement forces.

Ankle Support is how well the basketball shoe provides structure at the ankle and how well it will prevent ankle inversion and dorsal flexion.

Style, while greatly subjective, is one of the most important factors in defining a shoe for use on and off the basketball court. Remember - it is better to look good than to feel good! :)

Rating System
We use a five point rating scale with 1 being horrible, 3 being average, and 5 being excellent. The overall score is based on a weighted average of the four criteria above. The system weighs fit as a value of 2, cushioning a 2, ankle support a 2, and style a 1. So 2+2+2+1 = 100% ?!

Other Factors Matter
Factors such as weight, stability, durability, traction, colorway and build strength are always taken into account and will be described in the review. We welcome your input in the form of email or comments related to the post.  Please review all of the shoes you have.  for an immediate response - please feel free to drop us a line or 7 at info@kicksnet.com.
